Accommodation

All the international students will have housing at the dormitory on the campus of Yeungnam University. Usually, 2 students will share a room in the dormitory. 

At the dormitory, you can also apply for a meal plan throughout the semester, and it is optional. You can decide whether to have the meal plan or not.

Residence Card(RC) Registration

Once you arrive in Korea, you have to register as a foreigner at the immigration office in Korea. This process gives you to obtain an Identification as a foreigner who legally stays in Korea. 

After you apply for the Residence Card(RC) Registration, a physical card will be given to you. You can then use the card as an ID for issues like banking.

Banking 

Once you finish the foreigner registration, you can open an bank account with Residence Card. There is a bank on campus(IM Bank) and you can visit there to open an bank account.

Normally, it is quite convenient to open your own bank account because there may be a chance to have scholarship or financial issues in Korea.

Cell Phone

If you have your own ID (Residence Card), you can then contact cell phone shops in Korea to have and use your own cell phone. Usually, the buddies of international exchange students are assisting the international student during the process of cell phone transaction.

YU Medical Coverage

Exchange students can join the YU Medical Coverage by paying health care service fee, which costs 20,500 KRW per semester, after arriving at the campus. 

The YU Medical Coverage covers medical cares in case of simple diseases such as cold and dental treatment with reimbursement of up to KRW1,500,000 are guaranteed.

Insurance

All exchange students should purchase private international student insurance after arriving at Yeungnam University that covers them while studying at Yeungnam University. 

The insurance offered by Yeungnam University's partner insurance company, and costs about KRW100,000 per year (KRW60,000 per semester) with reimbursement of up to $100,000 for unexpected illnesses and accidents. 

The private insurance details will be covered during the orientation.

Attendance to the classes

In Korea, class attendance  is an important factor in assessing a student's academic performance. 

Normally, attendance is checked through the Smart Attendance mobile app. If you have any problems checking your attendance through the app, you should contact the professor of the course and ask them to check your attendance manually.
